A Sigh of Relief

For 20 years this thing has followed me around.

How it did so is beyond me considering its tremendous weight and cumbersome build!
All in all it wasn't a bad looking piece.

Although on most days its virtues were obscured by whatever superhero/transformer/alien Child #3 was currently obsessed with. On top of that the poor thing was squished in a corner and its keys rarely saw the light of day.

Combine that with my new found desire to clear the clutter and dust from our home and it was time for that dear old piano to go on to greener pastures.

Enter Mario, a musician by trade but also an expert piano mover of sorts.
Yesterday as I stood on the porch and watched the two of them drive off together I had myself a huge sigh of relief. Not only were musician and instrument delighted to have found each other but I myself had found tremendous joy in the act of letting go.

Granted this is only a first step of many to come but it was a huge one and one that makes my new so-called "Cottage Quest" a reality. Yes I want to live in a cottage. More specifically, a summer cottage. You know the ones where possessions are bare bones, natural light is in abundance, and there is always time for a game of cards. In such a humble abode housekeeping would involve no more than the sweep of a broom or the swipe of an apron's edge and meals would revolve around the seasonal offerings at the local market.

Now, considering the basic architecture of our home is in that of the garrison style, it actually looks nothing like a summer cottage. But guess what? I don't care. I will do the best with what I've got and in the process hopefully experience some of the joys I imagine summer cottage living bestows on its inhabitants.

So get ready....there's clearing and carting ahead along with a good deal of prying, parting, and painting. Who knows how long it will take? Who cares?
In fact, do they even keep track of time in a cottage?
I know I won't.
When the sun rises it'll be time to get up. When the sun sets it'll be time to go to bed. And anything in between I shall consider time for fun!
Care to join me....

Not Fun But.....

Having your printer die on you is NOT fun. Having to reconfigure the technical hoopla of wirelessly connecting a new one to your system is even less amusing. The biggest bummer of all, however, is having to print out your tax returns on said printer in order to have something upon which your "payment due" check may be attached.

 BUT.....
....if on the way to the post office you also take along with you an order of bitty blossom pins to ship out to someone sweet the day soon becomes a bit brighter.

 AND.....
...if upon popping into the post office with your deliveries, you find the nicest postman in the whole wide world just happens to be behind the counter your smile becomes a bit bigger.

 SO THEN.....
...with your mouth in mind it's no wonder you take a hop, skip, and a jump across the parking lot to Lil' Peach. I know the sign says Tedeschi but I first knew it as Lil' Peach and so it will always remain as such to me. Besides isn't Lil' Peach much more fun to say than Tedeschi?
Anyhoo...this is where you will find a never ending supply of.....

...the best macaroons EVER!!!
And at 50 cents a pop these little delights are still quite affordable even after paying your taxes!

The Last Straw

 It snowed again yesterday.

And although my little lucky penny doll was delighted for the opportunity to try out the new cape I made for her.....

.....I am very tired of this view.

Come to think of it...I'm tired of this one as well.
The good news is, today is the official start of spring!
Time for some fun,
a few changes,
and lots of color.

I find trays are the handiest when a transition is in order.
Moving to another room? Grab a tray.
TV dinner time? Grab a tray.
Welcome in a new season? Grab a tray.

Considering I don't want to look at the snow out my window why would I want to look at it on my wall? Splashing in a spring rain puddle, however, now that looks like fun!

Button, button, who's got the button?
I do!!!
Lots of them too.
And after an afternoon spent happily stringing them along I must admit.....

.....things are beginning to look up!

Preparing To Take The "K" Out Of Funk

OK...I'll admit it....I've been in quite a funk recently.
And frankly I've had enough of it.
So I've concocted a plan to kick that funk in the derriere and send the "K" out the back door!
I figure that should leave me with a big ole helping of  F-U-N!

Everyone is invited to pop in now and then and see what fun ideas I find to serve up throughout the year ahead.Topics could range from fashion to furnishings, fabric to featherweights, flowers to fairies, food to fair island fantasies. Anything is game so long as it's FUN!

I'm hoping there will be an inspiration or two that you can take along with you into your day to day. Or even better yet, that you'll share one of your inspirations with me!

Made Myself Smile

After yesterday's endeavour, I decided to spend some time this morning on something fun (and small!!!) I dug into that new batch of fabrics I picked up last week even though I had planned to save them for April projects. What a silly idea that was.....so much better to enjoy them right here and now!!!
