Made One More

Somewhere along the way I do believe I've stepped behind on my blocks of the month. This here (fairly dreary if I do say so myself) specimen is only the seventh block to now be stashed away in my hidey draw and yet by all counts there should be nine completed.  This definitely requires some looking into!

Made a Boo Boo

Tomorrow I'm headed over to Candlelite Quilts for our handwork gathering which means I needed to make up my block of the month to take with me. There was little concern over the fact that I saved it to the very last minute since I was becoming a pro at whipping them up...or so I thought! Yet, by the look of my half square pieces in the center it seems to be I was quite mistaken.

I'd love to blame the off center diagonals and lack of multiple corners on the fact that two of the kiddos, currently down with serious cases of the sniffles, were quite distracting (take my temp, pillow please, where's my tea, it's too hot, it's too cold, why does he get the couch, can I have more Tylenol, can I have more tea, but it's my turn to pick a show, mom!)

Or perhaps I could say it was because I was so tired from cleaning up the inch of water discovered on the bathroom floor at 1:30 last night (don't even ask!)

I even debated pointing my finger at the poor innocent puppy who was constantly under foot in hopes of getting his fair share of attention for the day....what with the two sickos keeping me hopping to and fro.

The fault, however, lies with no one but me and my unfortunate habit of  failing to thoroughly read directions. Oh well...it's staying as it is and I'm going to bed!

SWEET DREAMS!

Made My Block For The Month

I do believe I'm starting to get the hang of these "ginormous" creations! I was packing up my supplies for the monthly Hand Work Gathering at Candlelite this morning when I remembered I needed a completed block in hand to receive the next Stash Party Stars block pattern. I whipped this thing up in no time. . . . 38 minutes to be exact! Just don't look too close!!!

Made Another "Gimormous" Quilt Block

Thanks to a friend I was introduced to A Sentimental Quilter today. Now it wasn't as if I hadn't heard of Kathleen Tracy and her wonderful "little"quilt books before, but I was ignorant of the fact that she hosted a blog. So inspired was I after reading through her posts that I decided to do a bit of block making myself.

Although I desperately wanted to, I couldn't justify going hog wild and cutting away at a new mini quilt project knowing that the pattern for my second "Stash Party Stars" block of the month was awaiting attention. And so I tackled the 12 x 12 inch monster and am proud to say did a much better job of it! Sure I clipped a few of the corners off in the stitching process and have a bit of misalignment here and there but overall the nook witnessed far less grumbling and ripping out of seams than it did during last month's endeavour!

Made Something Big

The above quilt block measures 12"x 12" which to me seems GINORMOUS!!! I've been fighting the monster it all day and it still has a pucker in the upper left and some weird warble down there on the bottom. Why do I have such a mental block when it comes to making normal sized items? No matter I'm calling it complete as is and will try to do better on next month's "Stash Party Stars" block of the month.
