Made a Bribe

Toady I finished off seven pieces which is a good thing because I discovered I had miscounted yesterday and actually have a total of 84 items to complete! So now combined with the "first three" from yesterday I've got 10 out of 84 done. That's almost 1/8 of the work which made me feel pretty good so I decided to pop into the library this afternoon and pick up a copy of Sarah Orne Jewett's The Country Of the Pointed Firs. The book was recommended to me in the comments section several days back (thanks Del!!!) and I've been dying to get my hands on it ever since. It's another coast of Maine, fishing village romp in time and so of course right up my alley!

I must have numbers on the brain because the first thing I did once the book was in my hands was to flip through and see how many chapters it contained. It has 21 to be exact which is really weird because if you divide the number of items I need to complete by the number of chapters you get a perfect 4. Well actually it's not weird that it divides up that way but isn't it weird that I think that way? And perhaps even weirder that I continued thinking over this discovery until I found a way to put such useless information into practice.....BRIBERY.

It was unanimous.....me, myself, and I decided to limit our reading of the book to 1 chapter for every 4 items completed.

So upon returning home I whipped up a Bitty Blossom Pin and then immediately devoured the first chapter...YUM!!!

A few more stitches and snips earned me the second which I've now savoured several times over.
Can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store....

  2. Love the Bitty Blossom pins. So glad you found Sarah. The numbers thing is just the sign of an organized mind. I play games like that too. When I find a book I know I'm going to relish, I have to ration it e.g. Grapes of Wrath. I love Mrs. Todd. It would be sooo nice to go back and visit with this lady, not to mention seeing this place as it was. Enjoy.
