Made 187 Points

This afternoon I participated in a rousing game of domino's with my mom, my aunt, and my youngest. By the end I had scored the most points of everyone involved!
Unfortunately that was not the object of the game.
It was an epic loss.

Made Coffee

I broke the glass carafe for the coffee maker today. This was the second time in less than a year that I have done just that. "Enough," I thought and dug around a bit for the stove top percolator I got at the flea market last summer. I had thought it would be a great back up for all those power outages we seem to encounter in our neck of the woods but now I'm thinking, "Why not for everyday?" Especially since it was so much fun to use. First the coffee grounds are spooned into the little basket.

Next place the basket on the hollow stem piece and set both into the pot of water.

Don't forget the basket lid to keep all those grounds in place!

Watching the water bubble up into the glass piece up top proved to be great entertainment. At first it was clear but eventually darkened to a nice rich brown color.

 Mug ups all around.....

.....and a thumbs up from dear hubby to boot!

Made Me Wonder

So this is the wave of my future. Truth be told, it's not bad. Fairly simple, fairly quiet, and functional. I like functional.

This, however, is very strange. Traditionally I thought the horn was located in this general vicinity, not radio controls.

No horn on the other side of the wheel either. But if I ever fall so in love with talking on the phone that I can't bear to be separated from it in the car guess what....I'm all set!!! Yet now I've got myself wondering, where is that horn? Perhaps I'll have to call someone to find out?!!

 And then there's this.....
RADIO slash SOUND SYSTEM slash TRAVEL STATS slash FUEL INFO slash HEADLIGHT CONTROL slash CD PLAYER slash PHONE BOOK and all with a NAME THAT TUNE capability.
Who in the world could possibly navigate such a conundrum of  glowing details?

Why my 11 year old son, that's who!!!
He is my hero.

Made A Final Farewell

We are about to get a new car which means never ever will I have the comfort of driving a Saturn again. I kind of knew this day was coming and had begun to prepare for it. What I had not prepared for, however, was the fact that not one dealership that we visited offered car models with manual windows. Or manual locks for that matter. I sew on a featherweight 221, I have neither a dishwasher or a microwave, I will never buy a nook, or ever require a phone with blue tooth (whatever that is?) While I do foster a love/hate relationship with my laptop, I will admit I am quite fond of my tiny digital camera, and more than a little frustrated when the TV remotes are on the fritz. But now that I'm about to enter the strange world of techno gadget infused vehicles, I'm more than a little curious as to where my opinions will fall.

Made Twenty Years

Happy Anniversary to me and dear hubby!

Twenty years ago I wore this dress, sat behind these place cards, ate from a menu such as this, and had coffee in this cup. Today I wore red plaid, sat alongside of our three kids, ate a plate of nachos, and had coffee in this cup. And dear hubby? Well  he wore blue plaid, sat next to co-workers,   ate more than just soup (I hope!), and drank enough cups of sugary coffee to get him through a 14 hour day. Needless to say we're taking a rain check on celebrating!

Made a Pit Stop

I was only suppose to pick up a gallon of milk but I couldn't help myself. I hadn't been there in ages and I always find such good treasures....like the time I found my sewing chair. Do you remember that? Today I came home with a black hoodie that is nice and soft and worn in just right. I should have taken a picture of it before I tossed it in with the wash but I didn't. So I'll show you these instead, if you don't mind the blurry picture that is.....

My very first pair of high top sneakers! They were a special birthday gift from child #3 who has a pair just like them himself. He wanted us to match, which we did until it decided to get chilly outside. Since then, every morning on our way to the bus stop he wears his black hoodie and I've been wearing dear hubby's gray one. But not anymore!!! Won't he be surprised and won't hubby be happy to have his back?!!

Made Me Cry

tears were on my cheeks!

Made My Bed(time)

Did the laundry and put it away.
Cleaned the fridge and was shocked by what I found in there!!!
Shopped for groceries and restocked the shelves.
Cooked dinner and washed the dishes.
Made my bed and am now off to lie in it!

Yes I am turning in early this evening along with a pile of reading goodness to catch up on. Let's hope I can at least enjoy browsing a few of them before I start reading my eyelids.

Made It In The Nick Of Time

Even though I awoke to a basket full of cushions in need of final details I decided to focus my attention elsewhere.....

.....and get some odds and ends out of the way. A bit of crochet completed the last two little pillows and the final three capes only needed their ties braided up. With these 5 under my belt for the day there was nothing left but to focus on the last 18 pincushions.

Round about four o'clock this is what  I had left. For awhile I wondered if I'd have to call the shoemakers elves for a bit of help but.....

.....by 11 o'clock all was well!
And as for tomorrow, I don't intend to lift a finger!!!

Made Ready For The Final 23

No I haven't forgotten about the fact that tomorrow is my deadline to finish up those 84 items. I've actually been chugging away at bits and pieces of them in between birthday hoopla, puppy naps, and potholder try outs. I've got 23 left to go and I've got them all set up in production line fashion. I was tempted to show you more photos of the day's progression but am quite certain another word for that would be PROCRASTINATION! And so I'm off.....on my mark, get set, GO!!!!

(He) Made Me Do It!

One little bichon puppy, a cozy quilt, and an invitation to snuggle after dinner.
I was a goner and apparently asleep in a matter of minutes for the next thing I knew the sun was rising on the pile of dirty dinner dishes. It wasn't until I'd had my morning cuppa, however, that it dawned on me I'd missed my post for yesterday as well...UGH! Nothing like starting a new day playing catchup with the previous one.

Made For Me!

Tonight I have a very happy kitchen!

Compliments of a friend's kindness and creativity.....didn't she just make
 the sweetest potholders ever?
Thank you Suzanne!!!

Made an Attempt to Catch Up

I so enjoyed all my birthday greetings.....THANK YOU! It still felt to be a bit of a holiday this morning so I skipped out on finishing up anything in lieu of prepping up all the goodies I have awaiting shipment. Packaged up  pincushions,.....

 ..... more pincushions,.....

.....and all the "Make Your own Lily" basics.
Back to serious sewing tomorrow!!!

Made It Out the Door

The finishing touches were added to yet one more Hitty cape and another itty bitty pillow  early this morning. Soon after I was happily on my way up to the first Nellie Perkins Doll and Miniature Society meeting of the year and they were handed out to the appropriate individuals. Luckily, I remembered to take a quick pic to documents items 60 and 61 first!

Made a Bunch

Seven more cushions completed and ready to go! Once I decked them out with the blossom pins, however, I tossed the whole lot of them into the hand basket so you'll just have to take my word for it that a portion of these are new creations...cross my heart!
59/84!!!

Made Them All

Today was a Bitty Blossom marathon during which the entire lot of pins were completed.

Oh and one more pincushion to boot!
Hitting a grand total of 52 of the 84 items on my list I took a long leisurely cuppa and indulged my reading of Jewett's book all the way through chapter 12...what a treat!

Made Me Wish For More Time

Had a bit of a roll right around sunset...two cushions and six pins brought me up to 38/84.

Made It Up

Another day, another chapter.
Yep.....got to that cape and surprise, surprise.....a few more pins.
Grand tally now stands at 30/84!

Monday, September 10, 2012

Made It.....well almost...

Two more blossom pins, one more pincushion, and what I had hoped to be the first of five new Hitty capes. Unfortunately a wee glitch in the day's plans came up and the cape will have to wait until tomorrow for it's finishing touches. Even so, my tally upped a bit to 26/84 which means I'm off to bed with Jewett's new chapter in tow.

Two more blossom pins.

Made Four and Then Some More!

Another pile of pincushion rounds all made up and ready to stuff. The four blossom pins on top.....

.....boost me up to 21 out of 84. Captain Littlepace here I come!!!

Made the Bees Happy

This afternoon I finished off three more Bitty Blossom Pins while sitting out in the yard. The sedum was literally alive with bees and so I added my own flower creations to the mix just for fun. And it was fun....until the kiddos next store called me to come over to see a snake they had found...and the frog it was in the process of eatting as well! NO THANK YOU!!! My interlude with nature was done. I grabbed my pins, high tailed it inside, and locked the door behind me!

At least my new tally of 17 out of 84 granted me the next chapter and a chance to fill my mind with something more pleasant.
But oh that poor frog!!!

Made to Put My Feet Up

Even though there are ten whole days until my birthday I already got a birthday gift! My mother-in-law, one of the busiest women I know in her own right, gave me this ottoman to put my feet up! As an added bonus the lid opens to reveal a cedar lined storage area  in which she thought I could store some of my sewing goodies. What she doesn't know is the amazing opportunity she has now given me to add to my stash! Thank you Jeanne!!!

Even though I was tempted by the idea of some fabric browsing, I was good and stayed put at home. Four more items were finished up bumping my tally  to 14 out of 84 and earning me a read through of the next chapter in Jewett's book. Of course, all of this was done with my feet up which I must say I found very much to my liking! I even gathered my knitting together and fumbled through another inch or so of the scarf hust in order to extend my position of leisure a wee bit longer.

Made a Bribe

Toady I finished off seven pieces which is a good thing because I discovered I had miscounted yesterday and actually have a total of 84 items to complete! So now combined with the "first three" from yesterday I've got 10 out of 84 done. That's almost 1/8 of the work which made me feel pretty good so I decided to pop into the library this afternoon and pick up a copy of Sarah Orne Jewett's The Country Of the Pointed Firs. The book was recommended to me in the comments section several days back (thanks Del!!!) and I've been dying to get my hands on it ever since. It's another coast of Maine, fishing village romp in time and so of course right up my alley!

I must have numbers on the brain because the first thing I did once the book was in my hands was to flip through and see how many chapters it contained. It has 21 to be exact which is really weird because if you divide the number of items I need to complete by the number of chapters you get a perfect 4. Well actually it's not weird that it divides up that way but isn't it weird that I think that way? And perhaps even weirder that I continued thinking over this discovery until I found a way to put such useless information into practice.....BRIBERY.

It was unanimous.....me, myself, and I decided to limit our reading of the book to 1 chapter for every 4 items completed.

So upon returning home I whipped up a Bitty Blossom Pin and then immediately devoured the first chapter...YUM!!!

A few more stitches and snips earned me the second which I've now savoured several times over.
Can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store....

Made the First Three

I had intended to spend my day "sewing' a field of Bitty Blossom Pins but soon found myself itching to have at some of the other projects I had lined up.

So I figured, "Why not? I've certainly got enough of them!"

And just in case your curious as to the specifics here's what's on my plate to finish up.....
34 pincushions
27  39 (opps I counted wrong!)bitty blossom pins
5 itty bitty pillows
5 Hitty capes
and
1 quilt block

Collectively they come to a grand total of 72  84 items. Some have due dates and others do not but I have given myself until the 22nd to work my way through the list. This should be fun....at least for me it will and I'm hoping you'll humor me as I visually document my progress along the way. I promise to try and come up with some creative photos so it doesn't get too monotonous on the eyes.

Today, however, you'll just get a straight up picture....the first 3 of 72!!! 3 of 84!!!
(Although if I hadn't been tempted to poke my way through a few chapters of my latest Ogilvie book perhaps it would have been 4.)
